Sea World Abu Dhabi
At 350,000sqm this is without doubt the largest project I have been associated with. The total construction cost of this project is nearly $4 billion. A truly mega project with design complexities to match. I was initially involved with design verification and was later involved with this project during the last stages of detailed design submission taking over design responsibilities from an associate who chose to move on. I was expected to hit the ground running with this handover, and it was no easy task. My responsibilities included reviewing the design comprehensively according to the client’s scope, checking allowance for all specialist supplies and equipment. Updating all Amtech models and calculation spread sheets as well as resolving any outstanding coordination issues. This project has proved to be very challenging as I was not involved with initial design of the project and had to learn about the project in a very short time to be able to meet the design criteria.

Churchill Trust Theatre
This project included expansion of a current hospital. The expansion scope included addition on a new operating theatre as well as a recovery ward. Aurecon were employed as Services designers by Hawkins Architecture. I was responsible for the base build design from concept to construction. My main responsibilities included Client liaison, lighting design, Underground cable reticulation, final circuit design, MSB design, safety in design and construction monitoring. This project presented additional challenges as it was designed to AS/NZS 3003 which included Cardiac protected and Body protected areas. The project also had additional critical supply requirements for the operating theatre as well as specialised lighting and power requirements in the theatre.
Metro Sports Facility
I have worked on the design of the 160million NZD Metro sports Facility. The scope of this projects included design of competition pools, show courts, community courts, restaurants, external lighting car park lighting. Aurecon have been employed by CCC in the capacity of Structural and services designers. We have been responsible to carry this design forward from developed design face to construction. Due to costing benefits most of the BIM has been outsourced to our office in Vietnam. My responsibilities include checking design calculations done by my colleagues and Vietnam and to act as a services coordinator between the architectural instructions and the delivery team as well as working with local suppliers for some high ticket items including flood lighting for the competition pools and show courts.
PT Chevalier to Herne Bay Cycle facilities Stage 1- NZTA
Project includes construction of new cycle facilities on a road in Auckland. From a design perspective this entails conducting a study into the current road lighting arrangement and making sure that the lighting levels are adequate and complaint with the relevant P & V categories as have been highlighted in the AS/NZ standards. This is been done either by relocating poles upgrading luminaries or introducing new poles and luminaries.
